Davy Paindaveine & ECARES also receives Belgian Science Policy Office grant

Solvay Brussels School - Economics & Management - News

As part of a Interuniversity Attraction Pole (IAP) coordinated by KULeuven and involving several research teams across Europe, Davy Paindaveine (ECARES) will be the recipient of yet another BELSPO grant for the School.

The IAP network is  entitled  "Developing crucial Statistical methods for Understanding major complex Dynamic Systems in natural, biomedical and social sciences (StUDyS)" . Indeed, while richer information is to be applauded, extraction of the relevant information then becomes a real challenge. The main goal of this IAP network is to make it possible to answer challenging questions in focused applications.

We are of course delighted to be part of this IAP network in Statistics” explained Davy Paindaveine. “It is a clear sign of recognition for the high-quality research in Statistics that has been conducted at ECARES, SBS-EM and at the mathematics department, which hosts two of the six ULB promotors. Beyond the funding it brings, this grant clearly puts both ECARES and SBS-EM on the map of statistical research in Belgium.

Following yesterday’s announcement of the Belgian Science Policy Office (BELSPO) funding Marek Hudon & Ariane Szafarz’s researches in Microfinance, this new BELSPO grant is further evidence of Solvay Brussels School’s important research output at both national and international level.

This new IAP network is a joined research project between KULeuven, ULB (Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management  and Department of Mathematics), UCL, UGent, UHasselt, ULg, CU (CZ), RUG (Nl), USC (E) and LSHTM (UK).
