Master programmes
The School currently offers two Master degrees. The School views Master degrees as the last leg before entering professional life. Hence it is very committed to offering not only excellent academic and skills training, but also to developing the professional maturity of students and to helping to steer them towards a well planned career choice. Consequently, each Master offers 3 different tracks.
The Master in Economics offers three career tracks, defined as academic pre-requisites leading to a potential career option. They are: the managerial track, for employment in the corporate world; the academic track, for employment in the economic policy-making world or a university research-related career; the teaching track, for a career in non-university teaching.
The Master in Business Engineering also offers three tracks related to the career preferences of students, each leading to a separate diploma. In fact, over the last three years, the traditional Solvay Master degree in Business Engineering has been complemented with two new joint degrees: One programme offered jointly with the VUB, the Flemish-speaking sister university, is fully taught in English and is directed at students looking for an international career. The other programme is offered in cooperation with the Polytechnic Faculty and is characterized by a strong focus on issues of organisation and technology.
